The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday as the entourage had arrived at a hotel near Penn’s Landing after the rapper had headlined a sold-out show at the Theatre of Living Arts. Couple finds, returns over $11,000 found near Golden Gate Bridge

A couple visiting San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge on Valentine’s Day discovered an unattended camera bag in a nearby parking lot. Inside the bag: credit cards, some papers and (wait for it) over $11,000.

The couple, Carlos and Barbara Landeros of Vallejo, Calif., had driven down to San Francisco for a romantic dinner, according to NBCBayArea.com. Setting out on a presupper walk across the bridge, Barbara spotted camera bag. Thinking its owner would soon return, they waited to make sure it wasn’t stolen.

After 45 minutes, their patience ran out, and Barbara opened the bag. Inside was the massive stack of cash. “I got nervous at first, it could be drug money,” she told NBCBayArea.com. “I was scared.”

While the couple could have had one heck of a Valentine’s Day celebration, they turned the bag and its contents over to the police. Detectives were able to locate the owner, a Chinese tourist, Mark, who’d accidentally left the bag in the lot. He was understandably excited to have his bag returned. And the cash, it turned out, wasn’t all his: Mark was holding it for several other families with whom he was traveling.

Mark went out of his way to thank the Landeroses. First he tried to call them, but had the wrong number. He then drove his family across the bridge to the Landeros’ house, only they weren’t home. Finally, they connected over the phone after Mark got the right number. He told them he put a check in the mail as a reward.

NBCBayArea.com notes that the Landeroses never got their nice Valentine’s Day dinner. They wound up in traffic and had a not-so-romantic dinner for two at McDonald’s.

Rapper Rick Ross Target of Drive-By Shooting

rickrossRapper Rick Ross was out celebrating his 37th birthday at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., diner early Sunday morning when he became the alleged target of a drive-by shooting.

Police say Ross and his girlfriend were leaving the 24-hour diner The Floridian at around 5 a.m., after eating a late meal, when someone unloaded close to two dozen bullets into Ross’ gray Rolls Royce.

Ross reportedly tried to flee the shooting, but ended up crashing his car into an apartment near 15th Avenue and Las Olas Boulevard.

“A giant kaboom knocked me off the bed and I went to the front door and all I saw was a car,” said Beth Balk, who lives in the building.

Nobody was injured in the shooting and subsequent crash, but a number of businesses in the area were damaged by stray bullets.

An employee at The Floridian told ABC News affiliate WPLG-TV in Miami that Ross and his girlfriend were questioned by police inside the restaurant following the shooting and then driven away in a black SUV.

“They looked disheveled. They looked like they had been through something,” the employee said.

The 37-year-old rapper has released five studio albums and is the founder of the record label Maybach Management Company.

Reps for Ross couldn’t be reached for comment, but fellow rapper 50 Cent, who has been in a feud with Ross since 2009, posted a picture of the crash on Twitter, writing:

@50cent “Hahaha fat boy hit the building? lol it looks staged to me. No hole’s in da car”

Police are still searching for the car and the suspect responsible for firing those shots. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fort Lauderdale police.

Beyonce Sings the National Anthem at the 2013 Inauguration of President Barack Obama

Today, Jan. 21, was a huge day for President Barack Obama. Not only was he officially sworn in for his second term of service in the highest office of government in the United States, but he also opened for Beyonce. Yeah, that’s right.

Obama was inducted into office again, where he gave an impassioned speech about his goals, agendas and initiatives for his second term … and then gave the stage over to the singers and the poets, like Bey, who performed a stellar rendition of the national anthem in the bitter cold Washington, D.C. air.

Kelly Clarkson Performing a President Barack Obama Inauguration

Kelly Clarkson took center stage at today’s (Jan. 21) inauguration of President Barack Obama, belting out ‘My Country Tis of Thee’ after the president delivered his speech about his initiatives and plans to improve the country during his second term.

Clarkson opted for a simple, pink scarf and maroon coat to keep warm while singing for the president and the country. It was a smart choice, as opposed to wearing red, white and blue and being too obvious or contrived, even. She was showing her patriotism in a more natural and honest way — by showing up and singing with the kind of emotion you just can’t fake.

Inauguration 2013: Barack Obama sworn in for second term

President Barack Obama delivered a full-throated defense of the nation’s safety net programs and vowed to tackle the problem of climate change and gay rights in his second inaugural address Monday afternoon.

“We reject that Americans must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future,” Obama told the crowd of hundreds of thousands of spectators who descended on the National Mall Monday morning. “The commitments we make to each other–through Medicare, and Medicaid and Social Security–these things do not sap our initiative; they strengthen us. They do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great.”

The president also warned in the 2,000 word speech that the country cannot succeed if a “shrinking few” succeed economically while the middle class suffers.

The festivities are more muted than four years ago, when nearly two million people showed up.

Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath to Obama shortly before noon in front of a cheering, American flag-waving crowd from the steps of the Capitol.

In her invocation, civil rights activist and journalist Myrlie Evers-Williams prayed for strength for the nation to face the challenges ahead. A former chairperson of the NAACP and the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, she said, “One hundred and fifty years after the emancipation proclamation and 50 years after the March on Washington, we celebrate the spirit of our ancestors.”

Despite deep partisan divides in Washington, Republican lawmakers publicly crossed party lines to congratulate the president on Inauguration Day. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) released the following statement Monday: “Every four years on Inauguration Day, America shows the world that our major political parties can disagree with civility and mutual respect. It is in this spirit that I congratulate President Obama on his inauguration to a second term and wish him well in the fulfillment of his duty to lead the U.S. at home and abroad over the next four years.”

The First Family will attend a luncheon, before the inaugural parade starts around 3 p.m.

Barack Obama Sworn In As U.S. President For A Second TermCompared to President Obama’s first inauguration in 2009, finding a spot on the National Mall to watch the ceremony this year was a breeze. Down on the Mall, inaugural staffers passed out free tiny American flags, while others waved their own version of the Stars and Stripes overlaid with the president’s face. Despite an estimated crowd of as many as 700,000 people for the day’s festivities, there was plenty of room for people to stand on the grass. Families with small children had little problem sprawling out on blankets as others carefully tiptoed around them.

On Jumbotron screens placed throughout the Mall, inaugural attendees watched dignitaries, celebrities and lawmakers file to their seats. With each camera shot of Obama and his vice president, Joseph Biden, the members of the crowd lifted up their flags and cheered.

Earlier on Monday, the First Family emerged from an 8:45 a.m. service at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Obama took time to tweet during church. “I’m honored and grateful that we have a chance to finish what we started. Our work begins today. Let’s go. -bo,” he wrote. During the service, Bishop Vacti Mckenzie blessed Obama and Vice President Joe Biden while they stood in the front row with their heads bowed.

The president shared a laugh with his daughters upon his return to the White House Monday morning. Malia ran up to his limousine and shouted “Boo!” at her father. “You scared me!” he joked as the Obamas entered the White House.

Most depressing day of the year

Depressed FNL The most depressing day of the year, which has been dubbed Blue Monday, falls on Jan. 21, 2013 this year, but do you really have anything to worry about? Probably not. That’s because Blue Monday started as a marketing campaign, according to Yahoo! News.

Yes, it’s impressive that people are still talking about the most depressing day of the year even though it began in 2005 ” . . . when UK psychologist Cliff Arnall created an elaborate mathematical formula to calculate the most miserable day of the year,” on behalf of a company called Sky Travel. Several companies by that name still exist, but none of them seem to make reference to this fabricated holiday.

People may not remember Cliff Arnall or Sky Travel, but they do remember the most depressing day of the year on an annual basis. Is it still a successful
