The police report, which was obtained by the Associated Press, said that around 1:30 a.m. on Christmas Day a fight broke out between Jones and his wife, Nicole, after she asked him to help prepare their suburban Atlanta home for Christmas.
According to the report, Jones said she tried to escape upstairs but her husband grabbed her ankle and dragged her down the stairs. He then allegedly got on top of her and said, “I want to kill you.”
Jones was booked at about 3:45 a.m. and released from jail after posting a $2,400 bond by 11 a.m., according to records.
Jones, a veteran of 17 seasons in the majors, including one with the Dodgers, won 10 Golden Gloves as a center fielder from 1998 through 2007.
Earlier this month he signed a one-year, $3.5-million contract with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan’s Pacific League.
